What Does Working With a Dietitian Look Like?
Step 1: Initial Assessment
Your first appointment is an opportunity to understand the bigger picture. We will discuss your health history, nutrition habits, lifestyle, goals, challenges and what you would like to change.
You don’t need to have your diet figured out before your appointment. The goal is to understand where you are starting from.
Step 2: Tailored Recommendations
Based on your goals and needs, we’ll identify practical changes that can make the biggest difference.
This may include meal planning, improving protein and fibre intake, building balanced meals, adjusting portions, developing strategies for eating on busy days, or addressing specific nutrition-related concerns.
When Should You See a Dietitian?
You don’t need to wait until you have a major health concern. A dietitian can be helpful if you:
- Feel confused about what you “should” be eating
- Have tried multiple diets without finding something sustainable
- Want support with weight management without restrictive dieting
- Are experiencing changes related to perimenopause or menopause
- Have been told you have high cholesterol or elevated blood sugar
- Experience digestive symptoms that may be influenced by diet
- Want help creating simple, balanced meals
- Are taking a medication that affects your appetite, weight or nutrition
- Want personalized nutrition guidance to support your health goals
A Collaborative Approach
Nutrition works best when it is part of a larger picture of health.
Leanne can work alongside your existing healthcare team to ensure nutrition recommendations complement your overall treatment and health goals. When appropriate, communication with your physician or other healthcare providers can also be incorporated into your care.
