Green Tea for your Valentine?
Green tea has been enjoyed for thousands of years in China. Green tea comes in many different varieties and can be readily found in your local tea shop or grocery store. Recently, many medicinal benefits from green tea have been cited from increasing fat burning to lowering cholesterol. But more interestingly, green tea affects your hormones.
The dance between testosterone, estrogens and progesterone – in both men and women – plays a significant role in our health. Many people do not realize that these hormones can be converted from one to the other depending on the tissue, other hormone levels, nutrition and environmental factors.
Green tea contains catechins, an antioxidant that has been shown to affect testosterone levels. In the body, testosterone can be converted to estrogen by way of the enzyme aromatase. Catechins in green tea act as aromatase inhibitors thus decreasing the conversion of the libido enhancing testosterone to estrogen.
Looking for that libido boost? Then maybe green tea is the thing to share with your Valentine!
